"The greatest part of our happiness depends on our dispositions, not our circumstances."

Martha Washington said that. She was George Washington's wife, the first woman to be featured on a postage stamp, and the only woman to make it onto any form of currency. It's amusing, how everything comes back to money. Of course, she was not without her flaws. Even the first president of our United States believed in slavery. A good man doesn't have to be perfect or flawless to be good. He just has to do more good than bad, and do that good for the right reasons.

[Private to Harry]
Harry Dresden, right? I think we should talk.

[Private to the Admiral]
It's good to see some things never change.

[Private to Adrian]
We make a deal. We don't ask each other any questions. If you bring me food and a couple good books, I'll owe you a favor. When the flood's over, you come to my room and let me know so I can avoid the network for however long I have to. I think you know how much I have the potential to lose.

Level 7, Room 9.

Let me know.

There's a lot of talk about how quiet this place is and how surprising it is that nobody's been murdered. Is the Barge really that bad?

I've also noticed that a lot of the inmates have a tendency to lie and avoid answering questions. I would expect that from criminals, but I heard that not everyone here has actually broken the law, so I was wondering if anyone could explain that gap for me.

I don't suppose anyone would be willing to tell me what professions they worked before coming, or maybe what occupations they have now that they're here? It would be nice to know what roles people fill in a place like this.

[Private to Martha]
Think you could spare some time to show me the 'CES'? Maybe we could even catch a drink after.

[Private to the Admiral]
Any chance I could get a coffeemaker and some of Jude's Italian Roast in my room? I haven't lied for.. days now. Even Peter would have agreed to those terms.

[Private to Piper, added after chat with Crane]
Nick Halden. I'm a recently arrived warden here and I had an interesting talk with your inmate, Jonathan. Unfortunately, he was pretty busy at the time and we couldn't continue our discussion. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to request that he meet with me for an hour, just on the deck. I really feel like we were getting somewhere.

[Private to the Admiral]
I admit, I was actually excited about getting away for awhile. I was assuming the healing Bible had saved my life, but I'm getting the feeling that's not the case..

[Public]
Wow. You people sure know how to throw a party. I'm practically overwhelmed with the sheer amount of optimism on this ship. It's kind of hard to sort out between the irrelevant narratives and the vague nothings, but I feel like it's there if you know where to look.

The name's Nicholas Halden, FBI. I made a deal to come be a warden and I'm looking forward to helping one of you lucky people be redeemed into bigger and better things. Well, it's a working theory. I'll at least try to help you graduate. Can anyone tell me when I'll be assigned to someone? I can be eager sometimes.

So, anyone interested in a game of cards?

[Private to Adam, after talking to Parker]
I hear you run a good card game.
